Copper wire and leather
250 x 250 x 50 mm
2025
A reflection on the vulnerability of musical performance,
this work explores the concept of a performer confronting
stage fright. The sculpture models a hat designed to provide
comfort and anonymity, inspired by a gum leaf’s delicate
yet resilient form.
With a flexible wire frame and repurposed leather,
this work represents the struggle between exposure
and protection, a dynamic balance between fear
and confidence.
The piece is both a meditation on the performer’s psyche
and a technical challenge, paving the way for the development
of a wearable version using millinery techniques.
